About Us and our Sustainable Approach.

, by James Garlick, 3 min reading time

Pink Pig was created in 1992, by Nick Wilson.  Our Managing Director, understood the importance of high quality paper and the needs of artists and art students from his background in art, design and print-making.  His plan; to provide vast choice, colours to reflect an artist’s personality, the best quality papers at affordable prices and all with a quirky brand to boot!

Our brand emerged from a day trip to the Yorkshire Dales, one simple design, drawn by hand for a print makers business card, a Pig created in 1982.

Nick and our team still hold the same vision, 29 years on, as we approach 30 years doing what we do best!

All our handmade covers are made by us in Yorkshire, Great Britain. We use the best quality acid free paper available, always made by FSC certified mills so we guarantee that it is sourced sustainably or recycled, where possible.  We are all proud of our low carbon footprint and ability to provide highly sustainable products that can be fully recycled, once used.

66% of the material in our cardboard boxes is recycled and all of our Kraft boxes are 100% recyclable.  Our shrink wrap can be 100% recycled*, each Thai tissue paper sheet is oxygen bleached (better for the environment) and made from non toxic dyes.  All grey board used to make our covers is made from 100% recycled post consumer waste. We have one large, general waste dustbin collection each week and everything else is recycled!  YES YOU READ THAT RIGHT…virtually no waste and that includes our canteen waste too!

We deliver quickly** and offer seemingly endless permutations, so we’re confident in saying we have the world’s largest range of colours, sizes & formats, unmatched by any of our competitors!  Our independent reviews ‘Gold Feefo Service Awards’ prove that our customers feel the same about all aspects of our range.

We have increased our growth with many new developments online, offering a custom ‘build your own book’ style interface, between the customer and our site.

This gives you options surpassing 12,000+ products, meaning that we can deliver a handmade version of the exact art book or pad that you chose on screen.

“I personally, am proud of what we have achieved, built and continue to maintain. From what started in a small terraced house, which we quickly outgrew, to now, a multi-channel global business that has retained its British heritage and importantly, it’s values. I am honoured to be involved with such a dedicated team of staff that care about the products that they make” – Nick Wilson, Chief Pig.

Nick is still very much involved in the day to day running of the business, just like he has been for the past 29 years.
We think that this has been instrumental to the ethos of Pink Pig and what has kept us so true to our original values for so many years.

Mission Statement:

"Our goal is to put all that we’ve learnt into offering traditional British manufacturing to the world.

We will showcase our brand to the best of our ability to attract a global audience, to whom we will offer outstanding customer care and an honest service.

We endeavor to provide high quality artists materials and a plethora of choice through a range that is unrivalled by our competitors."
